Five things you need in your studio
Today I’m gonna show you some essentials I have in my studio that I wouldn’t wanna miss!
1 – Reflector My reflector has changed my photography-life. I am much more aware of how I work with light now, it filles in shadows around the neck and it also makes the eyes look brighter. I always have my reflector right between me and the model laying on the posing table.
2 – Hair ties and bobby pins This is an absolute essential for me. Whether it’s baby hairs sticking out of a ponytail or you want to change te hair look up, these 2 things always give you options.
3 – Lipbalm and moisturizer Also absolute essentials! There’s nothing worse then trying to fix dry skin or dry lips in Photoshop, so when I see that my model has one of those things I just have them put on lipbalm and moisturizer to fix this temporarily.
I also send my models a checklist a few days before the shoot so they know what to expect. On that checklist it says to moisturize a lot the days before the shoot, gently exfoliate to get rid of that dry skin, and also to drink a lot since that helps a little aswell.
4 – Strapless top For my images I don’t really like to show a lot of clothing, because I want the focus to be on the face, the makeup or certain products. Because not everybody has a strapless top, and sometimes people forget to bring one – I always have a spare on at my studio.
5 – Music Especially if you don’t know the model there can be a weird silence sometimes. To avoid complete silence I always have some music playing in the background. Plus it’s a lot easier for the models to pose with the music! If the model has any specific music-wishes to make them feel more confident I always play that too. Confidence really shines through a photo, so this makes the photo look much more alive.
